As ever Angela has found an intriguing picture this week for her Visual Dare.
I have tried something different today, writing in a different environment, alongside my writing friend Anmelia.
We have both written our own separate stories and I have just given Anmelia a tutorial in how to post her own story on her dusty and under-used blog - please go have a look at her tongue-in-cheek royal story here and welcome her to the Visual Dare Gang!
Below is my own little story...150 words including title!
The Mystery of the Invisible Woman
“Just
stick your hands through those holes love.” Edgar held the oversized coat open
and I obliged.
Shuffling
backwards I could feel the heat from his body against my back. The unfamiliar
closeness made me tremble.
“I
still don’t see why we can’t dress up as Shaggy and Velma?” My muttered words
were lost as Edgar’s arms wrapped round me to fasten the buttons.
Last
year’s party had a pantomine theme and I was the back end of the cow. We didn’t win and Edgar was in a foul mood for
weeks.
But
this year he had just got his longed for promotion. I’d been looking forward to
dressing up, celebrating his success with the other wives.
It’s
not easy being the supportive other half.
As
a final touch Edgar placed an old camera in my hands but I couldn’t see and wasn’t
seen.
LOL!! Love the costume idea (would have been fun to see them go as Shaggy and Velma, too! - that made me laugh aloud!)! I like the idea that they have to make themselves look ridiculous in order to properly celebrate that promotion!!

I'm glad you liked the story Angela, it started off being a fun piece but I hoped to convey that maybe there was something a bit more sinister taking place. Edgar never seems to want to show off his wife, she's always being covered up and lost in the relationship.
